The Snowmaiden is a winter fantasy story based on the famous Russian folk tale. This production is brought to life through puppetry, live music and an introductory Russian folk dance. The story is told with two dimensional marionettes as the village children and the elderly couple who build a snow sculpture of a little girl. The Snowmaiden, touched by magical stardust, is literally and figuratively from another dimension. Although she thrives in the winter, what happens when the Snowmaiden is faced with spring, summer and fall? The dances and songs that follow the story are adapted from Russian folk music which help to set the stage and feeling for the themes, the Russian culture, and community.
Saturday and Sunday, January 23rd & 24th: 1:00pm and 4:00pm
"...my 5 year old loved the Snowmaiden. She sat front and center and was spellbound. To quote her on the ride home, "let's go see every play that theater has." And so we shall."
