ABOUT THE BAND
The Elastic Hoax was formed in November 2008. Alex P. Taylor, lead singer and lyricist, released two solo albums in 2007 and 2009 and began looking to collaborate with other local musicians. Acoustic guitarist Joe Mandravelis became one of the very first band members and together the two would audition the rest of their band mates. With Taylor and Mandravelis working together as a songwriting team, they completed The Elastic Hoax’s debut album “It Never Happened Anyway…” and independently released it on August 19th, 2010.
The album which consists of fourteen original songs was recorded at East Lake Recording Studios in Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts with Enoch Jensen as their engineer. After recording his two solo albums with producer Jamie Sherwood of Southington, CT, Taylor took on the role as producer for the band’s debut album. The result has received rave reviews from fans, friends and local college radio. The band’s CD release party at Black Eyed Sally’s this past August was a huge success as the band performed to a packed venue.
This past year, The Elastic Hoax teamed up with Jennifer Hill & Co. to create the two band’s Down the Rabbit Hole Summer Tour. Hill, singer-songwriter and pianist, has organized CT’s chapter of Swan Day (Support Women Artists Now) in conjunction with WomenArts for the past for the past three years and will be showcasing it's fourth year at the end of March 2011. Her band, signed to local indie giant Sling Slang Records, has recently released their sophomore album, “Fifteen Minute Long Sentence." Both her album and The Elastic Hoax’s new album will be prominently featured the evening of October 28th.
